The technical structure of CRB is composed by a certain number of laboratories and pilot plants to study and experiment new technologies aimed at post-harvest management of quality of production of fruits and vegetables and also at optimization of the transformation process.
Our laboratories and pilot plants are divided into different sections:
- a chemical analytic section to check quality of food-stuffs products, with a particular attention to fruits and vegetables both fresh and changed,
and to the study
of all the physiologic and metabolic process that cause the deterioration of preserved fruits and vegetables;
- a biochemical section to study the nutritional factors which includes, apart from analytic laboratories, also a pound laboratory. (CRB is the owner of a permit granted by the Ministry of Health for the execution of nutritional experiments on cavies);
- a microbiological section to study and check both the microbiological process that cause the deterioration of food-stuffs and the useful biotechnological process;
- a specialized laboratory to test the residual
of pesticide, in the process of crediting (the laboratory has already made a request for crediting SINAL);
- a pilot plant to preserve in fridge fresh fruits and vegetables, equipped with refrigerators, and from equipments with service for the control of the conservation parameters (temperature, humidity, composition of the atmosphere, etc.)
- a pilot plant to study the transformation process of fruits and vegetables, with versatile equipements for assembling different processing lines.
This structure includes also guest-quarters with 35 single rooms, completely furnished, to realize studying stages and vocational trainings, as well as some rooms equipped with outfits for the simultaneous translation during seminars and congress.
All the laboratories are equipped with scientific outfits and modern instruments of high technological level, thanks to late acquisitions.
